Lefty Blondie Press will print 250 carefully edited, handbound, hand-cut, and hand-numbered chapbooks from the 2023 winning manuscript selected by Jan Beatty and created in partnership with the author, editors and designers at LBP
The author will receive:
- 10 (ten) author copies
- 40% off any additional author copies
LBP will promote the chapbook widely on our website, social media, and other small press venues, such as Poets & Writers
LBP will sponsor a public reading with Jan Beatty in Pittsburgh, PA currently scheduled for September 7, 2023 at White Whale Bookstore.

Submit chapbook manuscripts from November 1, 2022 through April 30, 2023

Jan Beatty will select the 2023 winning chapbook manuscript

Winner of the contest and any finalists will be announced by June 15, 2023

18-24 pages of poetry (not including title page, table of contents, endnotes).
Can be any form or topic, though we find a unifying theme works best
One poem per page
Your name should not appear anywhere in or on the manuscript.
Individual poems may be previously published, with acknowledgement
Simultaneous submissions accepted. Please notify us at LeftyBlondiePress@gmail.com immediately if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere.

We welcome chapbook submissions from poets who

Are age 40 years and older
Identify as a woman
Are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, writing in English, currently living in the U.S.
Have not published a chapbook, collection, or full-length book in any genre

In the subject line, include:
- your last name
- chapbook title
- and the current year
In the body of email, include:
- short bio (60 words or less)
- manuscript title
- page length (not including title page, table of contents, endnotes)
- author's name
- address
- email
- and acknowledgements of previous published poems, if any
