¡Hola, Buenos Aires, Argentina!
…with all the preparation before I flew, then jumping into rehearsals once I landed—
Duendes Amigos – Alabanza a Jean Valentine and the poetry of Jean Valentine were brought to Buenos Aires—May 31, 2025, Artetra, el distrito La Florida.

Five artists including two eurythmists, a clarinetist, an actor/singer, and a literary scholar/translator joined me in the third-floor studio space of an old carpentry shop to bring poems out of my bilingual book to life.
Interspersed between the performance pieces were questions posed by Silvina Lucas. It is always a surprise to see how elements come together, how through performing the poems, not just reading them from a book, audience members are given an opportunity to bring the poem’s images and words into their own body of experience.
A festive book-signing afterwards and a pre-presentation flash mob based on the “Play Impulse” as proposed by Friedrich Schiller, framed the book event.
Ghost Friends / Duendes Amigos handbound earrings, modeled by Vicky, Romina, & Claudia!
To think that Jean Valentine was given an opportunity to drop down in Argentina gives me joy.
During one of the first rehearsals two wild, green parrots landed on the window ledge.
I looked at Claudia, the actor; she looked at me. We smiled. ¿Ha llegado Jean? Has Jean arrived?

If you haven’t ordered your copy . . . please do.
