LBP: What does your current writing routine look like?
Anna: I think that with the academic year back in swing, my writing routine will shift back to essays and less creative forms of writing that are more technical. I do believe that reading the work of others is an important part of my writing routine, especially during the school year when I don't get to write as freely as I'd like. I try to take advantage of assigned reading and see where my writing skills align with people I admire.
My cat walking over my keyboard and notebooks has also become a very cute inconvenience.

LBP: How has your relationship to writing changed throughout your life?
Anna: My relationship with writing hasn’t changed drastically through the course of my life. When I was younger I would beg my parents to get me writing prompt notebooks from the bookstore. I needed something to get me started on my writing and those little prompts helped a lot with building my creative drive. I think even in my higher education years I still need a push or a starting thought to keep me encouraged.
LBP: How do you approach a new project (poem/manuscript/different medium)? How do you keep the fire going for an extended project?Â
Anna: I usually keep the fire going by writing things I'm passionate about. I realize that a lot of the little notes I make in journals or my notes app have a lot to do with issues I feel strongly towards. On the daily I usually end up scribbling down a few lines, either about something I witnessed that day that stuck with me or about a conversation I enjoyed having with friends that I think has some fuel in it.
LBP: Longhand? Typed? When? Why? Â
Anna: I think my thoughts might move a little too quickly for my hand to keep up with. I usually scribble a lot of illegible lines into my notebook, and then later on, I clean it up and type out a rough draft. I do think that pen to paper is more fun, and I enjoy buying pretty notebooks. :)

LBP: Do you work in any other mediums? What? When? Why?
Anna: I can't say I spend a lot of time in one particular medium besides writing, but I do like to take on new crafts. I like to crochet, and sew, but that usually happens when I have a need for something, like a gift for a friend or to mend my favorite sweater. I do enjoy upcycling my old clothes though, giving old pieces a new life helps with my very small shopping problem. :)
LBP: What can poetry do?Â
Anna: I believe poetry is a communication tool. Because poetry isn't typically very long, each word carries more weight than it would in other literary works like novels. The art of picking the right words and pace for a piece of poetry becomes very communicative of the poet’s feelings, and often finds its own meaning along the way, and means different things to each reader.
